Tony Brown's Bio I was born in Houston, Texas but moved to Lake Charles, LA as a child. I grew up mostly in a single parent household I am the youngest son of three boys, not including my two sisters who are younger than myself.
I grew up in Lake Charles, a product of the Lake Charles Housing Authority. I was bused to school at an early age. I was 5 years old when I attended Central Elementary. I remember being in a class full of people who didn't look like me. I remember when I was in the second grade is when I realized that I could be just as smart as anyone in my class as long as I studied. When I had my first spelling test in the second grade, I was only one of two African Americans in a class of 30 students and was the only person in the whole class to score a perfect 100 on my spelling test. Mrs. Hebert gave me a Gold Star for that achievement, after calling me to the front of her classroom. It wasn't until I was in the sixth grade that I knew I wanted to be a Radio & Television Broadcast Journalist. This after I saw Bryant Gumble, a then young black man on televisions Today Show. I graduated with Honors, and the President of my class, quite an achievement at a predominately white high school. I went on to become Who's Who among High School students, a member of Louisiana Boys State and Presidential Classroom Class of 1982. |

The moral of my story never let anyone tell you what you can and can't do for a career. Remember, education is the key to all of your dreams. A good education like a college degree, is the difference between a career, something you chose and enjoy doing, and a job... something you are forced to do just to pay bills. The greatest weapon you have to live a full and happy life is a belief in "GOD, FAMILY, A GOOD EDUCATION, AND A GIVING SPIRIT ALONG WITH THE DRIVE AND MOTIVATION TO MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE IN THIS WORLD."
